Car Rental at Palanga Airport

Palanga Airport (PLQ) is Lithuania's seaside gateway — a small regional airport with seasonal flights from Scandinavia, Germany, and the UK. In summer, it gets busy with travellers heading to Palanga beach resort and the Curonian Spit. A rental car here is almost essential: the town of Palanga is walkable, but the nearby Curonian Spit, Klaipeda ferry, and regional forests are much easier to explore by car.

Rental Companies at Palanga Airport

Palanga is a smaller airport and the rental selection is more limited than at VNO or KUN. You'll typically find:

  • Europcar — Main on-site provider, reasonable fleet for the location.
  • Local operators via DiscoverCars — sometimes better value for economy cars in season.

Because availability is limited, booking at least 3–4 weeks ahead in summer is strongly recommended. Prices can spike when few cars remain.

What to Do with a Car Near Palanga

  • Hill of Witches, Juodkrantė — 35 km. Open-air forest sculpture park on the Curonian Spit.
  • Kaunas — 230 km east. Lithuania's second city is a comfortable 2.5-hour drive on the A1.
